Outdoor attractions in Sopron

Lenck Villa Garden - 17th - 18th century tombs - Deák tér 1.

In the beautiful garden of the former bourgeois villa, also known as the Museum Garden - along the brick wall and the 17th century city wall of ancient stone - are the gravestones preserved for posterity by Sopron's old Lutheran cemetery. Among other things, the tomb of Kristóf Lackner, Sopron's famous mayor, stands here.

Free to visit: Tuesday-Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm.

Károly Lookout, Kőhalmy Hunting Collection - Károly Hill

The most famous of the excursion sites in the park forest of Sopron is the Károly Hill and its surroundings, which has become a second symbol of the city. The museum at the foot of the lookout features a collection of hunting and wildlife exhibits - photos and taxidermy.

Parking is available in the parking lot of the Charles Lookout. From here, the lookout and the museum can be reached on foot along the fairytale path, about 800 metres away, on an asphalt road.

Open daily from 9:00 to 16:00.

Forest House - Muck plateau

A 2 hectare wildlife park, a showroom with an aquarium, a pond and a pond, offering an unadulterated forest experience, presenting the domestic game species (fallow deer, roe deer, mouflons, small species) can be seen at the newest attraction of the Sopron Park Forest.

It is located 3 km from the Károly-magaslat parking lot, accessible by road and hiking trail.

Open daily from 9:00 to 16:00.

Taródi (Fool) - Castle - Lőverek, Csalogány köz 36.

The small castle is one of the most significant works of visionary architecture in Hungary, built by István Taródi with his own two hands during the years of socialism and at the end of the last century. The walls of the building, modelled on a medieval knight's castle, contain nearly 150 stones for railway carriages. The castle stands on an area of 4,000 square metres on the edge of the Monastery Forest, with a beautiful view of the Lőverek from its 5-storey spiral staircase tower.

Open to visitors daily from 10.00 to 18.00.
